Alone for a Moment

This, one of my favorite works, is deceptively small & simple--as
is its message. At top center, delicate curved wires partly surround a
decorative round badge. Possibly this is an aura embracing the head of a
figure based on the wooden form below it with "clothing" shapes of
horizontal & vertical ridges, enhanced by a fragment of green & white
marble. This "figure" is anchored by a varigated dark metal form, which
suggests the outline of a ship--embarking for where?
The title is a musical direction from Satie, "Alone for a moment."
Initially, this seemed somewhat gloomy or alienated, but soon was
interpreted as a brief time of incredible peace & contentment--all too rare.
