Leaping Greenly Spirits of Trees

by Doré

The title is from a poetic line by e e cummings. The scene depicts a leaping, joyous branch dancing in the frame of a planter box, surrounded by forest colours of greens and browns. An elegant tall spindle (the observer) stands at the right of the stage.

An old rusted saw hangs on the side of the planter, suggesting the destruction of the forest with all its joyous expression. The saw is silent, but ominous.

I have used planter boxes for several assemblages. Their rounded form gives the impression of an intimate theater presentation.
