Festival at Moss Landing        by Doré

The fishing reel in the upper left corner sat on my kitchen shelf for almost 10 years. I liked its pewter metal with star-like design, as well as the black fish line and the small dark handle. At long last, I found it a place in this box.

The assemblage was originally titled "Six of One, Half Dozen of a Another" which referred to the 6 lines leading from 6 spaces of the reel's face to 6 ivory buttons, with 6 jacks, and the big wooden 6 form.

Other treasures include the paint-layered green board at the rear, and the green board at the top matched with a diagonally-attached board leading down to the center of the box.

"Festival" is a more joyous and lively title; "Moss Landing" is a fishing community at the northern mid-point of Monterey Bay. Now this presentation suggests a sunny coastal holiday with shells and driftwood on the beach.
